2024 Kickoff--  A History of Turning Market Problems into Success!

Kickstart the new year by joining us for a special panel of seasoned real estate professionals! These real estate investors will share first hand accounts of their experiences on the front lines of the real estate industry throughout the last 30+ years of both "good and bad" market conditions.

While many grew discouraged, lost hope, stopped trying and quit when conditions got tough, this group navigated, survived, and overcame the many challenges different markets throughout the years offered them. Our panel is excited to walk you through some of the crises that, at the time, everyone was very worried about and reveal how real estate investors and professionals like themselves navigated these tough times, thrived, and came out stronger than before!

·         1981 - Interest rates as high a 21.5%

·         1987 - Black Monday Stock Crash

·         1990 - S & L Crisis 1990-1991 (RTC, Resolution Trust Company)

The Panel members:

Deryl Smith – A licensed Realtor since 1979, 1989 Past president of The Cape Fear Realtors Association, Builder, Realtor, On Site Builder Representative and real estate investor.

Michael Otelsberg – A licensed Realtor since 1987, Founding board member of the Coastal Carolina REIA 2004, Long term investor, AirBNB investor, Home Flipper and Developer.

Rich Morgan - Real estate investor since 1990 (part time 1990-2006, full time 2006 to present). Opened HomeVestors office in Wilmington in 2006. Purchased, renovated & sold +300 houses in Wilmington & surrounding counties.
