Meeting Topic: Navigating the Insurance Landscape for Real Estate Investors

Join us for a SPECIAL MEETING NIGHT hosted by the NC Department of Insurance, where we'll delve into crucial insights on real estate investment expenses you may not have known about!

Discover everything you've been curious about but didn't know who to ask. Insurance plays a pivotal role in a real estate investor's financial landscape, and this event is your opportunity to gain the knowledge you need.

Explore the following topics:

  1. Uncover the nuances of homeowners' insurance and landlords' policies, along with the pros and cons of each.
  2. Learn effective strategies to keep insurance costs down and best practices when shopping for homeowners' insurance.
  3. Address concerns about potential penalties, policy termination, or difficulties for future owners in obtaining insurance.
  4. Understand the coverage of liability or worker's compensation for contractors, particularly those claiming homeowner liability for their injuries.
  5. Gain insights into the recommended insurance policies for contractors working on your property.
  6. Navigate scenarios involving pet (dog bite) or insect damage (bed bugs) and whether homeowners' policies cover defense for such claims.
  7. Evaluate the benefits of requiring tenants to have renters' insurance and the problems it could potentially solve.
  8. Unravel the insurance requirements for AirBNB or vacation rental ownership.
  9. Stay informed about flood insurance and recent changes in flood insurance policies.
  10. Explore additional insurance considerations for real estate investors, such as Umbrella Insurance and Liability insurance, including factors to consider when shopping for these policies and potential exclusions.
  11. Understand the essential insurance policies for home flippers, covering scenarios like water leaks, vandalism, theft, or fire at vacant properties under rehabilitation or construction.
